AUDITION GUIDELINES FOR NEW MEMBERS
Inland Master Chorale

The Inland Master Chorale announces its 30th concert season and invites experienced singers to audition.

The Inland Master Chorale has developed standards for its members in order to enhance the performance of fine choral literature. Membership in the Chorale means that you have achieved a certain level of musicianship, which is determined by an audition conducted by our Artistic Director, Roger Duffer, and Associate Director/Accompanist, Melva Morrison. These auditions are held in August and January for new members.

  • You will be asked to vocalize to determine vocal range and voice part classification. Your range may be determined in both forte and piano dynamics.
  • Tonal memory will be tested by singing back a series of notes played on the piano.
  • Sight-reading your part in a choral selection while the accompanist plays the other parts will also be included.
  • Please choose and prepare a song that most clearly demonstrates the quality and versatility of your voice. Acceptable pieces would include opera, oratorio arias, an art song in any language, or a ballad from a standard Broadway musical. You may be asked to sing all or a part of this piece, but it need not be memorized. An accompanist will be provided, so please bring an extra copy of your music.
All auditions are held in Weeks Hall at the First Methodist Church at 1 East Olive Ave., Redlands, CA. You are asked to make an appointment with the V. P. of Membership, Brenda Olson, by email or phone (909) 798-4IMC (4462).

Thank you for choosing the
